Summer Programs

Play, Explore, and Grow All Summer at New Horizons

Looking for a summer program that combines outdoor exploration, creativity, friendship, and learning through play?

New Horizons offers a bilingual (Spanish-English) summer program for children ages 2.5–7 in a warm, welcoming, and community-centered environment. Led by the same trusted teachers who guide our preschool programs during the school year, summer at New Horizons is filled with hands-on adventures, outdoor play, field trips, creativity, and opportunities for children to learn, explore, and connect.

Children do not need to be current New Horizons students to attend.

Summer Learning Through Play

A Summer of Exploration and Discovery

Our summer program builds on the same play-based philosophy that guides our preschool throughout the year. Children learn through hands-on experiences, outdoor exploration, imaginative play, storytelling, art, movement, and meaningful relationships.

Summer activities may include:

  • Nature exploration and outdoor adventures

  • Water play and sensory experiences

  • Art, music, and creative projects

  • Gardening and environmental learning

  • Bilingual English-Spanish activities

  • Storytelling and literacy experiences

  • Cooperative games and movement

  • Weekly field trips and special visitors

Children spend significant time outdoors each day in our spacious, tree-shaded yard featuring gardens, sandboxes, climbing structures, open-ended play spaces, and a tricycle and strider bike track.

Field Trips + Special Experiences

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Summer programming includes weekly field trips and hands-on experiences that help children connect with the Boulder community and the natural world.

Field trips may include visits to:

  • Local farms

  • Nature preserves and open space areas

  • Growing Gardens programs

  • The Fire department

  • Libraries

  • Museums

  • Parks and community destinations

Children also enjoy opportunities to observe and learn about the neighboring goats and pigs that are part of our daily environment.
