Investing in Children, Families, and Community

Building Strong Foundations for Lifelong Success

Research consistently shows that high-quality early childhood education is one of the most effective investments we can make in a child's future. Children who have access to strong early learning experiences enter kindergarten more prepared, develop stronger literacy and social-emotional skills, and are more likely to experience long-term academic success.

At New Horizons, we believe that every child deserves access to a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment regardless of a family's financial circumstances. Since 1968, we have helped children and families build connections across cultures, languages, and backgrounds through play-based, bilingual early childhood education.

Just as importantly, we believe that families are a child's first and most important teachers. Through family partnerships, literacy programs, workshops, and community-building opportunities, we help parents develop the knowledge, confidence, and connections needed to advocate for their children throughout their educational journey and beyond.

Your support helps ensure that New Horizons remains a place where children learn, families thrive, and strong foundations for lifelong success are built.

Why Your Support Matters

Expanding Access to Opportunity

Boulder continues to face persistent achievement gaps for children from low-income households, immigrant families, and English language learners. Access to high-quality early childhood education can play a critical role in helping address these disparities before children enter kindergarten.

Many of the families we serve face financial barriers to preschool access. More than half of our students come from multilingual, immigrant, or low-income households, and many receive tuition assistance. We never want cost to be a barrier to a child's opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Donations help support:

  • Tuition assistance for families with financial need

  • Bilingual Spanish-English programming

  • Family literacy initiatives

  • Parent education and family engagement programs

  • Classroom materials and learning resources

  • Outdoor learning environments

  • Teacher support and professional development

  • Community events and opportunities for family connection

By supporting New Horizons, donors help ensure that children and families have access to the tools, relationships, and opportunities that support success both in school and in life.

Our Impact

Building Community Across Generations

New Horizons was founded in response to a vision of bringing families together across differences in race, culture, language, and economic background.

Today, that vision continues through:

  • Play-based bilingual preschool programs

  • Family literacy events and book distributions

  • Parent education workshops

  • Community celebrations and cultural events

  • Inclusive opportunities for children and families to learn and grow together

Our impact extends beyond the preschool classroom. Through strong family partnerships, New Horizons helps parents become informed and empowered advocates for their children—an investment that benefits students throughout their academic careers.

Many alumni families remain connected to New Horizons long after graduation, returning for community events, literacy nights, celebrations, and school traditions. Their continued involvement reflects the lasting relationships and strong sense of belonging built within our community.

Why Support is Needed

Sustaining Access and Opportunity

Like many early childhood education programs, New Horizons has experienced significant changes in the preschool funding landscape in recent years. Changes in public funding systems, rising operating costs, and ongoing enrollment challenges have increased the importance of community support.

While we continue to adapt through thoughtful planning, expanded programming, and responsible stewardship of resources, philanthropic support remains essential to sustaining access for families who might otherwise be unable to participate.

Your gift helps ensure that New Horizons can continue providing high-quality bilingual early childhood education, strengthening families, and building a more connected and equitable community for generations to come.
